The idea for WBB was hatched at the beginning of 2006… in the wake of the new international atmosphere created by the Winter Olympics. “The idea was to bring together consumer services and social interchange in a friendly atmosphere, a place to relax with a drink, meet people, listen to music, have fun and at the same time do the laundry.” The aim was to make use of the magnificent nineteenth century cellars, together with the need to renovate the bar, which has been running for more than 50 years... and a new idea began to take shape in the minds of Maria Reda and Stefano Gamba, one that may be regarded as a little audacious, compared to standard Italian commercial practice. It took two years to succeed in bringing the concept to life: a place that brings together technology and elegance, work and pleasure, sociability and culture. The HOW and the WHERE were decided, all that remained to resolve was WITH WHOM? In December, 2007, the perfect partner turned up, Salvatore Lasorsa... and hey presto, the WBBar..at last. Self service laundry, high speed repairs + ironing + bar + internet = a magnet for bringing people together “over a drink and a spin” “A place suffused with a lively atmosphere: all day and long into the night, where you can have a coffee, make new friends or have fun with old friends over a drink. All while waiting for the washing to be finished...” “The epicentre of the whole place has to be the bar, where you can sip coffee or, if you need more substantial refreshment, try some soup. Or just sit round the card tables and have fun: games (board games, chess, backgammon) and reading matter. Not to mention, of course, the ubiquitous Wi-Fi connection for those who can’t put their laptops down. And, to give the whole thing an artistic touch, we regularly stage photographic exhibitions and shows by young painters and designers trying to get known.”
